Henry Hudson is known for being a succsesful explorer during the time of Christopher Columbus. Henry Hudson was born in England during the 1560's. If you know your geography you'll know that in New England there are three waterways known as the Hudson River, Hudson Bay, and finally the Hudson Straight. These places are named after the explorer Henry Hudson. He sailed four voyages from 1607 to 1611, the Dutch East India Company was his sponser. Henry was searching for a northern passage to Asia, he may have not reached his destination, but he did find new land where what is now known as North America. The ships he commanded were the New Moon, the Hopewell, and the Discover.
